traveling to SA for breast implants?
::hopes I don't get flamed for a semi-risque post::
Has anyone done this? I've been thinking of getting brast implants for some time now. (not huge, just a little oomf b/c I've lost some size due to breastfeeding) My husband's family is from Brazil, so we are going to go visit sometime. I thought since we're going anyway, maybe I should look into getting it done there as its cheaper, and supposedly more "artistic". I know breast implants are done a *lot* more in Brazil than in the US so I'm not especially nervous about it being a foreign country. Thoughts?

SO, the question is where will you be if you have problems a few months down the road???? Will you be near the surgeon for follow ups, etc. Cheaper may not be the best reason to go outside your normal health care area. Good Luck!

I second the previous response. Cheaper is not always better in the long run. Any surgery requires post-operative care and many time "corrections"! Most US doctors will not touch (due to liability issues) any fixes to cosmetic surgery performed abroad.

On Sunday evening there was a tv program that focused on people who travel to Brazil for the sole purpose of getting plastic surgery. Apparently you are not alone, as they claim between 25,000 - 30,000 tourists a year do it.
