transportation- Papagayo area

First, big thanks to everyone who's been so patiently answering my questions- right now I'm feeling more confident with the honeymoon plans than the wedding itself!

We'll be resorting with my parent's timeshare points in Playa Hermosa (Papagayo, not south of Jaco) and were wondering:

- if it's safe/feasible to ride bikes between the towns along the papagayo coast (we've lived in Honolulu and rode bikes there rather than drive, so we're used to creative drivers and tropical heat, but are not sure about the hill situation nor the condition of the roads)

- how long should we budget to get from Jaco to Playa Hermosa via tourist shuttle?

- any restaurant suggestions in the Papagayo area?

- does it make a difference in price, selection or quality if we rent a car in Playa Hermosa vs. at the airport in Liberia for when we head to Arenal?

Thanks!

Budget 3 hours, roughly, for your transfer to Jaco.

Bicycles around Papagayo. . .we've not seen that done. I wouldn't consider it safe with the traffic those roads get in that very popular area.

Be sure and dine at Ginger at Playa Hermosa. Very good!

I'd rent at the airport in Liberia, not at Playa Hermosa. We always use Tricolor. Their prices are very hard to beat.

Bikes aren't common rentals in CR. Even walking can be tricky because there often is no shoulder, sidewalk or place to jump out of the way.

You can rent scooters or quads. Quad trips will usually be guided, but scooters can be rented to buzz around the streets.

Well, at least not popular in most parts of CR. VERY popular on the southern Caribbean coast--and one of our favorite things to do. Maybe you guys can visit that side on your first anniversary! Congratulations! -- and relax, it will all come together! You'll have a wonderful time!
