A few Decembers ago we were in TDP. What I remember was that it was windy. But I can't imagine it would cause any sickness. Would he wear a mouth mask or bandana if he feels it is too strong?

I don't think you can escape the wind in Patagonia. The only time when it is not windy is, surprisingly, in winter. I found it extremely windy in the Fitzroy area of Los Glaciares national park, but I also had a number of days of absolutely spectacular weather.

Torres wasn't as windy as Los Glaciares, but I did experience a few days of high winds. The weather is highly variable, so it's hard to predict. Patagonia is known for its wind, so its part of the experience. I wouldn't let it stop you from visiting. It's not windy every day, and you can have truly great weather in January.
