Time in each area/Arenal & Osa

We're planning to our first trip to CR and have decided to split our time between Arenal/La Fortuna and Bosque del Cabo. If we have 9 nights, how much time do you recommend we spend in each area? I was leaning towards more time at BdC, but not sure... We're an active family with kids ages 12 & 15.

There's definitely enough to keep you and kids busy in Arenal for 3-4 nights (especially since depending on when you arrive and depart you may have short days).

From Arenal, the Cano Negro tour takes most of one day (I would still go, even with time in BDC) the zip-lines, hanging bridges, hot-springs, hiking the falls, Venado caves, waterfall repelling, etc.

At BDC we spent only one day touring and did the dolphin watch/wildlife sanctuary. I highly recommend this! We also did the horseback ride, but you don't need to go back to town for that. Other than that, we spent time on the BDC grounds on the trails, a couple of guided walks, pool and bar.

So I guess what I'm saying is, definitely start your list with the fam to see what interests them most, and then go from there.

Hope this helps!

Depends on whether you need to do a stay near the airport or afterwards, but ignoring that I would split them 5 BdC & 4 at Arenal. Pretty much 50/50 at both would make a great trip, I think your kids especially will love both, a nice variety.

I would do the same - 4 nights in Arenal and 5 days in BdC. We spent 4 nights in Arenal last year, and it was the perfect amount of time for us. You've made some great choices.

3 nights in Arenal is good enough...the rest in Osa...is hard for me to tell you only 3 nights there...since I love Arenal...and is the place that I used to play when I was a kid!!

But for you I beleive is the best option!!

Just bickle up and enjoy the ride in paradise!

I would just fly from Arenal. I believe you have a stopover with both Sansa and Nature Air, but I would just choose the best schedule option for you.
