tickets to watch football in rio?
My husband and I are planning a trip to Rio in November. He's a big futbol fan so I want to get tickets to watch a match. I can't seem to find any information on the web about schedules/prices/purchasing the tickets. Any advice?

American football or soccer? We went to a soccer game at the Maracana Stadium and it was great fun. There was a sign on the front desk of our hotel (Ducasse) that for $25, we would have a ticket in the best section, be picked up at the hotel, escorted to our seats, and escorted back out at the end, and returned to our hotel. It really was a bargain, as the stadium is not near the beaches and cab fare alone would be almost that.

It was a fun experience to attend a soccer game . . . the two teams playing on our day were the Rio team (Fluminense) and a team from Sao Paulo (Santos).

Sandy

Hello,

congratulations you are going to Rio de Janeiro!!! I am sure you will love it, like I loved it everytime I was there (around 9 times I guess)!

Well, about the soccer-game in Rio's Maracana-stadium:

I have never been to a game till now, but I know that tickets for it will be around 20 Reais (the best section).
I think that if you know when it is a game you can buy the ticket directly at the stadium, or of course in advance at some hotels-ask for it!

If you are staying in Copacabana and want to go without a group of the hotel to the game, take the Metro at "Cardeal Arcoverde" station in Rua Barata Ribeiro, near the Copacabana Palace hotel...
and get out of at "Maracana".

If you would like better to go with someone there, I have also a very good brazilian friend named Sergio (he does speak english)who know's the area well and could go there with you.
If you are interested in, just drop me an E Mail!

The next games in Maracana - stadium will be:

30/10 Flamengo x Corinthians 21h40m
31/10 Fluminense x Vasco 20h30m
02/11 Flamengo x Botafogo 16h00m
06/11 Fluminense x Palmeiras 21h40m
10/11 Botafogo x Corinthians 16h00m
14/11 Fluminense x Portuguesa 20h30m
17/11
Botafogo x São Paulo 17h00m
Flamengo x Guarani 17h00m

One of this two last games (17/11) will be certain in Maracana-stadium, don't know which one!

Hope this could help you???

If you have still any questions about Rio or could need any insider-advice please contact me:[email protected]

Greetings
Evelyn

Hi,

I really would not go to the match with only your husband, you're just inviting trouble.

You'll be able to book the trip through the hotel you are staying at. They will tell you when the matches are on, plus you will go with other tourists on an organised coach tour.

Or there's a company called Blame it on Rio, Rua Xavier da Silveira (Copacabana). They'll sort it for you I'm sure.

Good luck!
