Teotihuacan – How much time?
We’ve arranged a car to take us from the Zocalo area to Teotihuacan and would like advice on how long we should plan for a full tour of the site and any information on logistics.
We've arranged for a car for drop-off and pick-up to Teotihuacan. We’re a fit senior couple who have scrambled over ruins around the world and want to have a full experience – short of amateur archeology. We’re used to dodging crowds (we’ll visit on a Saturday) and would like to avoid doubling back as much as possible.
Would a drop-off at the Northwest Entrance closest to the Temple/Pyramid of the Moon and a pick-up at the Southwest Entrance (Temple of the Feathered Serpent/La Ciudadela) be the best – vice versa or another route? We’re guessing that we want to be on the site (including lunch - 45 minutes and the museum 45-60 minutes) for a total of around 4 hours. Is this reasonable and/or do you have other suggestions?
Thanks again to all our Fodor friends who have helped make many trips more enjoyable.

I would suggest that you have your driver take you to the Tepantitla complex before he drops you at the Temple of the Moon. It will save you some walking and backtracking. The murals are stunning and should not be missed.
I think your four hour timeframe is about right. Have never eaten at the site so can't comment on your lunch plans.
Do try to visit the Anthropological Museum in Mexico City before you head out to Teotihuacan. It will help you place it in context.

Thanks, Fra Diavolo. We will visit the Anthropological Museum before we go to Teotihuacan, and we'll be sure to see the Tepantitla complex. At which end we start and finish will be influenced to some extent by the most convenient location to find our driver.
I'll let our Fodor friends know about food at the site since we'll have lunch there.
