Tamarindo vs. Montezuma?

We'd ike to spend time on the Pacific coast on the last leg of our trip in November. We'd be traveling from Monteverde.
I've read that Tamarindo can be touristy, but perhaps not at this time of the year. Yet, I've also read the Montezuma is more difficult to get to.. also that it can be a little too "hippie". Not looking for touristy spots, but convenience is fairly high on the list. Any thoughts or alternative beach areas to visit?

I didn't care for Montezuma that much and while it is smaller than Tamarindo, it seemed touristy as well when we visited in August.

I think Samara may be an option for you (easy to get to thanks to the new bridge and paved way all the way through). You may also explore some towns north of Tamarindo, although I am not personally familiar with any of them.

If convenience is the issue, I'd recommend you FLY to Playa Samara or Manuel Antonio. If you want isolation, fly to the Osa Peninsula.

I don't care much for Montezuma.

Agree, Samara or Nosara are nice little beach towns and not nearly as 'touristy' as Tamarindo. And easy enough to get to.
