Sun Palace in Cancun

I think I've finally decided on a resort after many confusing weeks...haha. But before I make a final decision, I was wondering if someone could tell me what the beach is like at the Sun Palace. Is it one of the nicer locations or was it damaged any by this summer's storms? Thank you in advance for any help you may have. =) =) =)
Feel free to e-mail with any suggestions on a trip to Cancun. Thank you, thank you, thank you! =) =) = )
We stayed at the Sun Palace last January for two nights(we checked out and then into the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach). The Sun Palace was recommended to us by someone who has visited several times and liked it. However, we were disappointed - the beach had large boulders on it and was very small, the pool area was crowded, and our room was on the highway and smelled like the kitchen. One positive note - the rooms were very large and clean.
Postings on this site indicate people really like this resort and the benefits you get by staying at the Palaces(able to visit all the others). Also, it seemed as if guests were enjoying themselves at the bar(they had take off your clothing night and guys got down to their underwear). Guess it just depends on what you're looking for in a vacation - we like a good location, nice beach, and some open space. Whatever your decision, have a great trip and lots of fun!

Faith,

From what I can recall from my trip to Cancun a couple of years ago the beach in front of the Sun Palace did have some rocks at that time. I stayed at the Royal Solaris, it was fantastic. Check out this website to look at the beachs of just about any hotel in Cancun.
http://www.cancunmx.com/pictures.html

Regards

While at Cancun, you'll want to visit the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. The ruins are wonderful, but it'll be very hot. During the heat of the day, leave the park and cab to the Blue Lagoon Cenota. Swim, have lunch and relax, the back to Chichen Itza.
The ruins at Tuluum are very near Cancun and have a wonderful beach.
Have a great trip.

We were at the Sun Palace Oct/Nov 1998 (yes, just in time for Hurricane Mitch). The beach has deteriorated there very much over the last few years. But I still recommend Sun Palace...nice rooms, great service, good food, fun activities. For a nicer beach, you can go spend the day at either Cancun Palace or Beach Palace. And definitely go to the Moon Palace for a day - bring your beach bag...the pool is fabulous there. We have stayed at Sun Palace twice, Cancun Palace 3 times, and visited both the Beach and Moon Palace...so feel free to email me if you have any other questions about the Palace resorts or Cancun in general.

Thank you all very much for your responses. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to respond back but my computer has been down forever. Anyway, thank you again everyone. It's been really helpful. I think I shall go ahead and stay here. At least this way I'll be able to enjoy all four palace resorts. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU =)

I have to get my two cents in before you make your decision. We stayed at the Sun Palace 4 years ago. The pool is crowded, and a little small by comparison to some other hotels. While we did have a 2 br suite that was lavish and lovely, we had to trade two one bedrooms that were over the kitchen(and smelled of lunch being cooked). The public areas were not as lavish, although nice. My conclusion. I will not stay at an all inclusive again when in Cancun. There are about 300-400 nightclubs, hotels, and restaurants along that tiny little spit of land, and the excitement is endless! We missed several meals at the hotel, because we did not want to stop what we were doing to go back. It was too restrictive to have to be the same place every day at lunch and dinner time. I also dont like getting my alchoholic beverages in paper cups! Still, I know a lot of people like it here; I just prefer to strike out on my own, and not stay put at the hotel.
