South America
Hello everyone
I'm planning a two week trip to South America Sept 2008. I would like to travel to Buenos Aires, Rio De Janiero and Peru. What is the weather like during Sept? I also prefer to take a tour that would get me from point A to B. Can anyone recommend a good tour company? I'm departing from Chicago. In addition, what airline would you recommend? I prefer BA but it does not fly directly from Chgo to South America.
Thanks
Geno

In early Sept. 2006 BA was mostly comfortable with a light jacket during the day and sweater at night. One day was very windy and about 50 which felt very cold in the city. It is their early spring which can also be the end of winter so prepare for cool and mild. AA flies O'Hare to Dallas/Ft Worth and then overnight to BA which worked well. If there is a new direct flight great! Three countries in two weeks will take several of your days just for travel and two weeks in BA alone would not be long enough IMO.

The direct flight from Chicago to BA just started a few weeks ago (although we were able to book our flight for March back in September). That is such a great option because it was looking like we were going to have to connect through Miami and I HATE the Miami airport (although I love Miami - South Beach especially). Personally I might choose to limit my trip to 2 countries rather than three. Do you plan to spend any time in the Amazon or go to Iguazu Falls? Since you will have a Brazilian Viza already spending a couple of days on either side of the falls would be perfect. You could start in Beunos Aires, then fly to Iguazu and spend a couple of days there. Then on to Rio and spend some time there. Then after Rio go to Manaus and either stay in one of the jungle lodges or (better yet) take a 2 or 3 night trip on one of the Amazon Clipper boats. I have a travel agent who could put all of that together for you including all of the internal flights. His office is in Miami, but he specializes in South America and helped us with our Brazil trip 3 years ago and our upcoming Argentina trip. His name is Edson Alessi and he can be reached at [email protected]. I'd be happy to share some of what we did in Brazil and what we are planning in Argentina. You can contact me at [email protected]. I am also in the Chcago area, by the way.
