Something fun and unique in Costa Rica

I am looking for a new idea - I have been to Costa Rica 10 years ago and did alot of the fun things already. I have done (and loved) the white water rafting, canopy tours, hot springs, manual antonio park, volcano arenal, and Jaco beach. I am a young and adventurous guy and am going for a week for a "field experience class" with my college. Our last day there, we have the entire day to ourselves before we fly out the following morning. I am debating on whether or not to do some of the things I did last time (ie. the white water rafting) or something different?

How about deep sea fishing? I would have an interest in that - not sure where to go to though... Or any other ideas? I am thinking fun, adventurous, unique, exciting, etc...

Thanks!

Where will you be on your last day in the country? That will largely determine what activities are available to you.

In addition to the things you've already done, there's waterfall rapelling, horseback riding, ATV tours, kayaking, surfing... Just depends on where you'll be and what's available close by.

If you're in San Jose, you're not going to be close to a lot of the activities you mentioned. I'd go rafting on the Pacuare if I were you. Rios Tropicales is a popular company to use. Deep sea fishing is going to be several hours away from where you're staying.

Thanks volcanogirl... I loved the whitewater rafting and wouldnt mind doing it again. I did an overnight trip last time, this one would have to be a one-day program... which I will research.

Any other thoughts?

As VG mentions, whitewater rafting might be the most 'exciting' thing close by. You'd have various hiking/nature experiences available as well.

You might want to pick up a guide book and look at the different activities recommended around the Central Valley or Orosi Valley to get additional ideas. It does seem that most people head out away from San Jose for the more adventuresome activities, but I bet you'll manage to come up with something fun.

You could also contact your hotel in San Jose and ask for some ideas. Most hotels will have a tour desk (many list their services on their websites). Maybe that will help you formalize a game plan.
