So much to do...so little time

We are a family of 4 (kids age 9 & 12.) We are spending 1 week in Ambergris Caye and have only 2 nights to spend in Cayo district. After reading all these posts, would love more time in Cayo, but can't on this trip. Any way, I'm trying to choose between DuPloy's and Banana Bank. We'd love to do cave tubing, ruins, horseback riding, and see wildlife. I know we can't do all of this in such a short time. Any suggestions on an itinerary for our short Cayo stay? We arrive in Belize City at noon on a Wednesday and leave for Ambergris sometime on Friday.

We stayed at the Banana Bank, and they have wonderful horseback riding. By the time you get out of the airport and then drive an hour ( ? time), you are looking at 2 - 3 pm. The Banana Bank has nice grounds to explore, with a jaguar, birds, a couple of monkeys, not to mention you can catch wildlife down by the river.

On Thursday, you could possibly do Xunantunich in the morning and cave tubing in the afternoon. Then on Friday morning arrange a horeback riding tour before leaving.

We stayed at DuPlooy's last August and really enjoyed the staff and accomodations there. The food was also really good. They offer many excursions, visit their site at Duplooys.com if you have not, as they list the activities on their site. Visiting Barton Creek Cave via canoe was great fun, but if you want something that will require more energy visit Actun Tunichal Mucknal - GREAT! They also have some tours that allow you to visit caves via horseback which would be helpful on your limited time frame. Enjoy!

Banana Bank will be a good choice. Thye offer some of the best riding in the country and are much closer to river cave tubing than are duPlooys. But duPlooys offersw both riding and is closer to Xunantich, Cahal Pech and E Pilar ruins. With only two nights, BB soounds best for riding and cave tubing.
