Second trip to CR, where to go?

We traveled to Costa Rica this past summer for the first time. We had an amazing vacation and are looking to potentially go back on a whim next month in March for my birthday.

During our visit in July we spent time in San Jose, Arenal, and Manuel Antonio. What is the best must see spot?

We will have a short time there – no more than 6 days and having a beach is a must!

We’re a married couple in our late 20’s. We love to experience the culture, have activities to do, and of course spend time at the beach together; however, we understand we can’t wrap all that into a short trip.

Where should we look to go next and also if you can recommend places to stay!

Hi PS. I don't go until next month so I can't offer advice. However, if you go please make sure and post your trip here or on your blog. I loved your last one!

Thanks Milliebz. I'm having a hard time now, torn between going back to CR or going somewhere else -- CR draws you back in, can't wait to see your trip report!

I really enjoyed the Uvita/Dominical area. Shelter from the Storm is great, Villa des las Aves. Great place for exploring rain forest and beaches. You must rent a 4 x 4 though.

I've had my eye on Casa Chameleon - looks wonderful, but haven't made it there yet. There's always the Osa Peninsula too - a split between BdC and the beach.

Villa La Macha in Manuel Antonio is one of the best house rentals in CR. Not sure about the prices these days but it is really fantastic. It has a private secluded beach but you have to hike down a trail to get to it. The house is on a cliff overlooking it with some of the best unobstructed views in MA. We stayed there twice in the last few years.

My favorite place these days is in dominical. Less tourists and much quieter than MA area.
