Santa Elena or Monteverde

Hello all. Currently in Monteverde via 3 days in Arenal. We are looking for advise on which cloudforest to go to. Would like to see something different that we have already experienced in Arenal ( did the hanging bridges and several wandering hikes on the hotel property "arenal lodge" ) Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

Hi ttdragongly,
I hope you are doing great at Costa Rica, I am from here.. Let me recommend the Tenorio Volcano National Park, especially Rio Celeste(Blue Light River).

Take a look of the following website: http://www.ruralcostarica.com/rio-celeste.html

Enjoy , Pura vida

We only did the Monteverde Reserve, but we enjoyed it and saw quite a bit of wildlife there including quetzals and howler monkeys. Also liked the night hike at Hidden Valley to view nocturnal wildlife - saw a fox, raccoon, porcupine, etc.

We saw 7 quetzals at the Monteverde reserve, so that obviously gets our recommendation.

RAC fantastic sightings for you! well done...we ended up doing Monteverde on account of it being closer to our hotel. We had Oscar as our guide and although it rained pretty much the whole time we were there, I highly recommend this very talented man. I could see that he felt bad for our lack of sightings due to the heavy rain. I found it different than the forest in Arenal but cannot put my finger on exactly what it was.
