Question About Transportation
Hi everyone.... I have my itinerary nailed down for our fourth Costa Rica trip, in January.. whooohooo! Now my question is about how to most efficiently and affordably travel from spot to spot.
What is difficult is that we're traveling to and from less-touristy locations, so figuring out buses, shuttles or taxis isn't easy.
We've been given a price, for example, of $195 from Lagarta Lodge in Nosara to Rincon de la Vieja Lodge, $113 one-way, from Rincon de la Vieja Lodge to Liberia Airport, and
$240 from La Carolina Lodge to Nosara. This is for two people booked through Desafio.
One plus is that we've been very impressed with Desafio. They seem very efficient. Also, for $40 more apiece, we can do white-water rafting, including lunch, on the way to Nosara.
The minus is that the transportation costs are pretty steep - I think. Or is this typical for the areas we're covering, given the bumpy, out-of the -way routes? Am I missing any other affordable options, besides renting a car?

We usually book our transportation through our hotels when we reserve them. I'd call them and ask for a quote just for a price comparison. There's Interbus, but I don't think they go to a lot of the less touristed spots.
