I think you will like Oaxaca very much. We were there for 6 days last year. The city is beautiful and the day trips out to 2 imposing ruins and handicraft villages were very enjoyable. We will miss being there this year, but maybe we will return next year.....not on Aero Mexico.

shelleyk, JetBlue just started non-stop service Boston to MEX, maybe that will help you out? We just flew there and back on AM, and found out literally the day after we booked that flight that JetBlue was starting the route (which would have been my preference!) JetBlue has been having some great sales lately!

What a pain indeed! I wish I didn't know that exact some frustration, if with a different airline and different destination.

Good for you for checking and identifying an alternative.
I hope your trip proves to be wonderfully memorable despite the change in plans.

amyb- We are flying to MEX on Delta through Atlanta. My Korean Air miles were going to expire on Jan. 1, so I had to use them on whatever Korean Air could find for me. I am annoyed that the Aero Mexico ticket was written on June 2 , that they cancelled the flight on Oct.21 and allegedly notified Korean Air of the cancellation, but nobody notified me. On a more positive note, I am happy that we could get rebooked to be able to do 90% of the trip I had planned. kja-Thanks for your good wishes.

Our new itinerary is :4 nights in Puebla, 6 nights in Morellia with one or 2 day trips to Patzcuaro, 3 nights in Queretero, 3 nights in San Miguel de Allende, 5 nights in Guanajuato, and 2 nights at airport hotels on arrival and departure.
