I'm looking to book a family vacation in August (kids are 5, 5, 7, 10). Which resort would you recommend close to Playa del Carmen? Paradisus and Grand Velas both look good but have some mixed reviews Has anyone stayed at either? Any other resorts I should consider? Thanks!

It would help if you told us what you are looking for in a resort.
Is a great beach important or are you more pool people? What about food? Do you have 6 people? If so, you might be better off in a condo.

Hi! Yes there are 6 of us all together and I’d prefer a hotel even if it means getting two adjoining rooms. I’d like a “luxury” hotel where we can feel pampered but also a place my kids can have fun and not feel like they have to whisper. Pools are most important but being on the beach is as well (though we will likely spend more time at the pool). Good food and service is important. A kids club would be great as well. Thanks!

The beach at Paradisus is not very good.
You say you want luxury and Grand Velas will give you that.

Not as luxurious as Grand Velas, but the Iberostar Paraiso Maya is a good resort with a great kids club, BIG beach and great pools.
