Place to stay near the airport in Costa Rica?

We are looking for a hotel to stay close to the airport in Costa Rica. Our flight in doesn't even arrive until 8:40 and then we fly out again the next day to Puerto Jimenez, so it won't make sense to stay anywhere nice like Xandari. What do you folks recommend?

Take a look at Hotel Villa Dolce. We stayed there last year when all we needed was a clean room and decent bed and shower the night before our flight. It was inexpensive, clean, had a very kind staff, and is less than 10 minutes from the airport. Read the reviews on TA to determine if it would work for you (some complain about road noise).

Are you flying Sansa or Nature Air? They use different airports.

If you are flying Sansa, check out Adventure Inn. It's about 10 minutes away, free shuttle upon arrival, large/clean rooms, great breakfast.

Cool, just booked us into the Adventure Inn. Both looked good, this one just spoke to me more.

Great place for arrival night, Monica. Breakfast starts early at 6:00, so even if you have a fairly early Sansa flight you can still eat at the hotel. They have a small buffet, but you also order off the menu.

The bar/restaurant stays open until around 11 pm and also serves snacks if you need something when you arrive.

Front desk staff have always been very helpful in arranging taxis.

See you at the GTG - we are flying Nature Air down on the 27th, but Sansa back on the 4th.

Although it is not near the airport, I recommend Hotel Bougainvillea. It is about a half hour away. We have stayed there on the way into and out of Costa Rica for 3 different trips now, and we are never disappointed. It is clean, not very expensive, has a beautiful garden. If you are arriving late, you can eat dinner in the restaurant there or take a taxi to somewhere nearby for a simple meal. We have gone several times to a place they recommended which is sort of a family-style restaurant with typical Costa Rican food, and we are the only foreigners there. There is a pool if you have time for a swim, a nice gift shop for souvenirs and take-home gifts which we have found we usually prefer to options at our other destinations within Costa Rica. We usually don't have time for much as we stay in San Jose only the night we arrive and the night before we fly home.
