Wow What a great report. Glad you had a great time. My Fiancee and I will be spending our honeymoon in Mancora. Was your trip all inclusive (3 meals a day and free drinks)? Would you you say yes or no to doing a trip to Peru all inclusive (meals and drinks only)

Lisa, we'll be staying at Pakaritampu as well. Do you remember what room number you were in? I got a suggestion on TripAdvisor to book on the top floor.

Any other thoughts about this property in addition to what you wrote in your review?

HI Lisa,
I have just read your most interesting report on your trip to Peru.
I am just embarking on planning a trip to Sth. America in August/Sept. this year.
I had not even dreamt of hiring a car around Cusco and Sacred Valley, even though that is how we have always travelled, independently.
So, hiring a car now seems like the way to go.
If you had had two weeks, would you have stayed in the same area?

YOur report seems to indicate that it easy enough to get around with only english as our language. Did you find that mostly?
I would appreciate any more info, even though your report was very very good.
regards

Hi soon!

How exciting about your upcoming trip!
This was one of my favorites!

If we had more time, I would have liked to have spent one night in Aguas Calientes so that we could have spent a bit more time at Machu Picchu...it's a lot of work to get there and one day wasn't quite enough for me (for some, it is).

If we had 2 weeks I would have loved to venture into the Amazon, Lake Titicaca or Colca Canyon (not all 3, maybe just one or 2).

As for the language thing:
Bring a phrasebook!
We know only very rudimentary Spanish. We know how to say "I would like", "We want/need", "Where is the..." etc.
We never had any problems. We almost always found someone who could speak a tiny bit of English, even in the small towns.
If you learn some very basics you shouldn't have any problems.
And you'd be surprised how much you can communicate by "charades"

Feel free to ask more questions!

Happy, safe travels!
