Ocean Coral and Turquesa Privilege Suites

Jan. 19-26 at Oceans Coral&Turquesa

We had a fantastic week at OC&T. There was a large group at Privilege reception desk when we arrived after a short ride from the airport, so we amused ourselves by checking out the beautiful lobby and stepping out onto the lobby terrace for some great ocean views.
Once that group had departed the desk, our check in was handled quickly and efficiently, it took a bit of time only because we received so much helpful information about the resort and the many Privilege services. Gabriella C stopped by to make sure we were being well taken care of, and while we relaxed and awaited our Butler Christian, Mr. Joachin came over and presented us with an invitation to the special Chef’s Table. (Thanks, Gabriella and Joachin!)
Christian grabbed the bags for all four of us and showed us the way to our lovely rooms in Bldg. 6. My room was all in good working order, the other room had a few items needing attention, but those were taken care of in a timely fashion.
The Privilege rooms have a full solid wall between bed area and bath, and an open entry into where the sink is, with frosted glass doors closing the toilet and shower from view. We enjoyed the large shower and the water pressure was great all week.
The view of pool and ocean from 6301 was great, and it was conveniently located to the Privilege Lounge, beach, and pool.
Christian secured us a reservation to Fusion for our first night, and was excellent in taking care of all our needs all week. We really didn’t have to call him, because he is very visible around the resort, and always stops to ask if there is anything he can do for you, and informed us of the day his work hours changed so we would know to see one of the other butlers or Luz at the Privilege lounge, if needed.
Our second night we went to the Chef’s Table, were a bit surprised to be dressing up like chefs, but it was all great fun, and an interesting tour of the kitchens before our delightful meal prepared for us by Executive chef Alan Ramirez. This was a special highlight for us, and photos of the event were quickly emailed to us so that we could keep and enjoy the memories.
Ah, the terrible towel game that some cry about….well we never had any problem getting seats at the Privilege beach or at the pool, and we arrived around 9 most days. One day we did not find an unused Bali bed, but we had arrived later, like 10:30 that day, yet we had no problem finding four lounge chairs for our use near a palapa.
As soon as we put down our beach bags and spread our towels each day, Enrique would show up with ice and bottled water, ready to take any drink orders. Enrique put on a lot of miles between the beach and the bar, he was always there just as we’d think about another drink.
We also had good drink service from Blanca at the quiet pool. And the food and drink service personnel there were always smiling and helpful. We had lunch there every day.
Breakfast was usually at Fusion, and one day we walked over to The Spot for their a la carte breakfast. Both menus have distinctive items as well as standard breakfast choices. If you like French toast, try both locations.
Dinners were outstanding, after the Chef’s table we thought we might have a let-down the rest of our dinners, but they were all equally well presented, and the menus at the various restaurants provided more than enough variety. We ate twice at Fusion (Privilege only), and once each at Hacienda los Girasoles, Villa Marina (for our Privilege included lobster dinner), Italian, and once at leCreperie.
These dinners were a highlight each day, so many delicious things to try!
Be sure to have the Mexican coffee at losGirasoles, delicious with a show included!
All our servers were attentive and we had no complaints about any food or service all week.
To address a couple of whiners I’ve seen reviewing, I would say that the beach is fine, and check in time is 3pm so if you get in your room before that, it’s a gift, not a given! Someone else was whining that they did not upgrade to Privilege and that some Privilege guests “took our spot” which is ridiculous.
No one took “their spot”, the Privilege guests had a reserved table. BTW, we arrived early a couple times for our reservations and would have had no problem waiting but our table was ready for us, with a smile!
We enjoyed the ‘quiet’ pool, and while it is not exclusive to Privilege guests, it usually is a quiet place for relaxing--except part of one afternoon when a group of French speaking young men decided to turn the quiet pool into their personal activity pool.
Perhaps some clearer information to ALL guests about the designated usage of each of the four pools would be helpful. And a reminder to families that diapered babies do not belong in ANY pool as a matter of hygiene and safety. Some behaviors are certainly not the fault of the resort. For the most part, you could avoid OPCs (other people’s children) as most were appropriately over on the far side where the kids’ pool and activities are located.
The only two things I’d like to see improved at to add more hooks in the rooms/baths for hanging used towels and robes; and definitely a larger theater venue because it was very overcrowded for any show we tried to see.
All in all , a very enjoyable week at Oceans Coral and Turquesa! Yes, we well may return for another week in this paradise.

The food was amazing, meal after enjoyable meal...and such wonderful service everywhere around the resort.
We're either returning there for next year's "girls vacation" or trying another H10 resort in another location with same concept.
