More information would be helpful
What do you mean by "inexpensive"? And is aren't there any other things you are hoping to find. Do you want an urban area? Village? Remote countryside? Will you have a car? Or need good public transportation?
I don't know a thing about Nicaragua (other than what i've read in various books about retiring to that area) but more information will help people help you.
Also register over at Trip Advisor if you are not already. Their forums for Mexico and Central America are more area specific and more active than this one branch here on Fodor's.

just avoid Managua and the very centre of Granada and San Juan del Sur. The north it's usually cheaper.
