natives treating tourists
I read in our local paper there seems to be an uproar with the locals and tourists. Anyone have a problem in Cancun with the locals telling them to leave? According to the paper, it's become quite a problem. The paper also mentioned a head washed up on shore!

Know nothing of Cancun, however in 35 visits over 20 years I have never had a problem with any Mexican citizen following a few basic rules.
1. I am polite to everybody
2, I Never flash money!
3. I do not drink, but if you do, don't get wasted & wander in public!
4. I do not go where I do not belong.

What exactly did you read? Who wrote it? And what was said? Are you sure you aren't confusing it with the post-election political protests?
As above, the head was in Acapulco not Cancun and had nothing to do with tourists.
In my experience in the past decade I have only been warmly welcomed by the local people (Puerto Vallarta and La Paz).

Ditto Stewbear. The majority of locals appreciate the tourists because that is their livelihood. But that said, I think they are just naturally friendly and in most instances want to be helpful if you need help. Of course, as anywhere, there is always a disagreeable human being somewhere. I have found in the last 8 years the locals to be extremely polite, friendly and helpful.
