MP Train Luggage Limit
Hi,
Can someone tell me how strict PeruRail is about the 11 pound limit for luggage brought on the trains to MP? Does that include a camera bag or small backpack? Do they actually weigh your luggage?
We'll be picking up the Vistadome Villager in Ollay and taking the Backpacker back to Cusco from MP.
Since there's such a restriction, do people change clothes for dinner? We'll be staying at the Inkaterra property, so I imagine they might dress up more than hiking clothes. Please advise.

We did exactly this trip in August and no, they did not weigh the luggage. I sure it does not include a camera bag or handbag. I can't speak for Inkaterra, but nobody seemed to dress up in the restarants of AC town! Personally, I would travel light - it is only a couple of days and the freedonm of not having a lot of luggage is great. Be VERY careful about eating outside of your hotel in AC - I was really ill when we were there.

My impression of the Vista Dome is that luggage weight is not an issue; the number of bags may be more of an issue. We had all our luggage with us but we travel light; one backpack and a smaller carry-on (each).
We took the backpacker to AC and the passengers handled their own bags, there was plenty of space on the over-head racks and between the back-to-back seats. This train was quite full.
The Vista Dome we used for the return didn’t have many passengers; the crew took our larger bags (backpacks) and put them in a luggage area that is just inside the door of the coach.
I havn't looked at the posted restrictions but my guess is that it wouldn't be 11 pounds, rather 11 kilos. I wouldn't worry about weight on a train.

I know the website says 11 pounds, but if that's true, nobody follows it. Gosh, even if it's 11 kilos (about 24 pounds), people bring a lot more on board those trains. If you have a regular size suitcase and a small carry-on with you, you should be fine.
