Mexico in April

I am now finding that EVERY week in April seems to be very busy due to one school vacation or another in Mexico. We are in our late 40's and wondered if it is really "crazy" and too busy to enjoy. Our budget is about $3,000 per couple from Boston which leave us out of the higher end adult only places. I'm looking at the Barcelo, RIUs.....thoughts suggestions? Thanks.

The areas surrounding Guadalajara are dusty and brown in April. May is the driest month of the year. June is the start of the rainy season and the entire countryside once again becomes alive with color. Also for the most part it rains at night.

April and especially May are fairly quiet here and many places close in May. Those are typically our warmest months.
Many locals leave: we are heading to Barcelona, Italy and NYC this year.

Check the dates of *Easter* for next year... that's a much bigger effect than school vacations. Santa Semana is HUGE especially assuming you are looking to beach resort areas.

hi kathy, i know nothing about the holidays but if you would be interested in the maya riviera area (south of cancan approx. 1 hour) you might look at www.locogringo.com if you e-mail them your question they will respond quickly with a list of potential resorts. would you consider a villa? they come with housekeeper and usually a cook. i've just come home from casa cavu on tankah bay beach and it was fabulous. you do of course need to buy groceries and have a car.
you could also look at tnt vacations - a boston based charter pkg company. they have great deals and you fly out from the charter terminal at logan which is nice.
there is a lot to do. eco water parks, beaches galore, ruins, plenty of good restaurants, shopping in playa del carmen...

I have stayed at RIU in another place, but didn't like it as much as the Barcelo Maya. If you want to find out more about the Barcelo Maya check out this website. Lots of photos on the never ending photo post on the top of the general questions forum and the wedding forum. Great off shore snorkeling at this resort as well.
