Mayan Riviera, where to stay for $300.Cad.night?

Hello. My first post here. I am a little shocked. This is the worst recession since WW2, and I can't seem to get a hotel/resort deal for 9 nights in Feb. Knock me over with a feather. Flying into Cancun on Feb 8, and leaving Feb 17. Any suggestions most welcome!

First, ignore the blatant advertising. gw, please read the user agreement.

Now the usefull advice, don't go AI. Go down to Playa del Carmen and find one of the wonderful small hotels. Rooms there can be had for under $100/night. Depending on what you think you have to have, there is no reason you can't have a fabulous 9 days ON THE BEACH for well under $300/nt.

Just a few options, Playa Maya, Alhambra,or Playa Palms all on the beach and around $200/nt. There are a number of options off the beach but a few short blocks from it that are considerably less.
Meals can be done very cheaply or quite expensive as you wish.

It all depends on your requirements but unless you need super delux, under $300 is easily done.

Absolutely. There are plenty of places to stay. If worse comes to worse, fly in, bus down for 90 pesos (the price of the bus just went up 10 pesos), and find a place. Hotel Cielo (ask for Russell), Hotel LunaSol, La Tortuga, Riviera del Sol, Luna Blue, Playa Maya, Quinta Sol, Fusion, Alhambra, and many, many more. Even condos can be had for less per night for a nice condo with pool and 2 bedrooms.

Yeah, the only reason for all-inclusive is to cut costs on food so you can do it for 300 cad per day all-in. $200/night U.S. is about 250 CAD, so 2 people are going to need about $100/day US average for meals other than breakfast, which seems to be included, ususally. I guess the right question is if there is a good all-inclusive for 300 CAD/night, where the food is interesting, or is this just dreaming? As for the small beach hotels, or the hotels a couple of blocks away from the beach, that would be my first choice, but I'm not sure the wife is up to that much adventure. If I was dead-nuts certain the hotel was really charming and a good value, I would consider it for sure. Playa Maya is booked solid for one night that we need. I will email them anyway in case they can come up with something for that night out of the nine that we need. Thanks for the non-advertising replies!

I have heard that if you want to go very budget there is a wonderful little place called Hotel Casa Tucan
on Calle 4 and 15th Ave. A friend used to live there every winter.

Here are the prices from their website

Double room (EUR 34,- per day)
Cabana ( room with a palm roof, EUR 32,- per day
Appartment (2 rooms with kitchenette, EUR 55,- per day)

Those small hotels close to the beach are beautiful and you would not be sorry especially La Tortuga, Fusion, Playa Maya, and Riviera del Sol. La Tortuga has swim up rooms, a wonderful restaurant on site and very close to everything. I wouldn't hesitate. Other than that also look at Shangri La Caribe and Las Palapas.

Just looked at Shangri La Caribe and beachfront rooms including breakfast and dinner daily are $295. Hotel La Tortuga is running around $244/night without food.

Actually, I just looked at your length of stay and at La Tortuga stays more than 7 days have an additional discount. Also, the rate I quoted was for a swim up room.

I just emailed Playa Palms again. They have room at $159.00/night, but would have to switch us once, 6 days and 3 days. I have to search the reviews now. La Tortuga is really nice, but a little spendy. Playa Maya is basically filling up and they don't have rooms.
