Marquis Los Cabos

My wife and I just returned from a week at the Marquis Los Cabos (July 2004). We rented one of the casitas and had a fantastic time. The service and facilities are five star and a real bargain for what you receive. Our casita with its own pool was elegant. I suggest stocking the bar with beer from the grocery store. We spent most of our days reading by the infinity pool and our nights eating out at restaurants in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose. In Cabo, our favorite restaurant was Edith's. In San Jose, we liked Morgan's and the italian restaurant next to the El Presidente.
You must rent a car before you arrive. I paid $130 for a VW for 6 days (including tax and liability insurance, not collision) - it costs $80 to go to and from the airport. Not to mention, the $20-40/night we would have spent going to dinner via cab.
We never ate dinner at the Marquis but friends we met at the pool said that the food was good. The breakfast and lunch menu was very good.
The spa at the Marquis is excellent. My wife spent two days at the spa and I spent one. I worked out at the gym 4x and was pleased with the equipment.
The beach is beautiful but you can't swim in the ocean. Don't even think about going in - I witnessed a very strong looking person gasping for breath as he tried to test the water and got sucked out. Plus, there is no need to go in the ocean with such a beautiful pool.
We were there in the downtime; the hotel was not crowded at all. Temperatures were around 90 in the day and 75-80 at night. I did not bring my golf clubs but I think it would be way too hot to play during July in the afternoon so plan on early morning tee times.

I am going to Los Cabos next Friday and was wondering where you rented your car from. Also do you know if there is any scuba diving in the area?

We are going next Wed. Do you remember the name of the Italian restaurant in San Jose, or is it easy to find? Also, what kind of food does Morgan's serve? Thank you!!

I think I rented through Avis, but I can't remember. The rental buidling was accross the street from the airport. When you exit the baggage claim, walk through the sliding glazed doors then 50 feet to the airport exit - the rental company is 200 yards away. By the way, don't stop to talk to anyone between the glazed doors and the exit doors; all they want to do is talk you into buying a time share.
As for Morgan's - they had chicken, steak, fish. It was great comfort food. The restaurant was a little hot in July, especially next to the big fire pit.

Has anyone stayed in the Marquis Suite main building. Many reviews on the casitas, but few on the Marquis. Only 5 I think in the Hotel. Any special tips about food, excursions, etc. would be helpful? Thanks, Sharon
