Manuel Antonio

Would appreciate any recent reviews for restaurants (especially seafood) in this area.
Also, how much would a bottle of
Absolute vodka cost compared to about $20.00 in the states?
Thank you in advance for your help.

You can get very fresh seafood at just about any restaurant in MA. Twice my husband commented to the waitstaff about how his fish tasted so fresh, and they told him it was just caught that morning. We loved Ronnie's Place/Mi Lugar - excellent fish, shrimp, and lobster, and also known for their sangria. We also liked Salsipuedes (tapas), Cafe Agua Azul, Barba Roja (just had drinks and appetizers), and Cafe Milagro for coffee, snacks, and delicious shakes; it's kind of like the Starbucks of MA. Go to the restaurants early so you can be sure to enjoy the sunsets; most of them have amazing views.

We have information about local MA and Quepos restaurants on our website.
http://www.mycondocostarica.com/restaurants.htm
In Quepos - El Gran Escape has good fish and seafood and other interesting menu items.
A more local place is Marisqueria Jiuberths - I have been told this is the hidden gem of the Fish Restaurants. I was there a few years ago, but friends have been there recently. The owner is a fisherman and his wife does the preparation. Though not really known by tourists this small establishment serves what is called the best tasting fish meals. The portions are large. Now located on the way to the airport, a taxi will be needed to take you to and from if you don't have a car. Below is an interesting article about the place.

Don't know about vodka prices, but would suspect that since Absolut is imported, it will be relatively expensive. However things like rum are resonable.

Pura Vida,
raquel

In addition to the places volcanogirl mentioned, we had 2 excellent meals at El Avion - lobster and fish were extremely good (this was last Aug if you consider that recent).

Sorry, have no idea about Absolut.

We thought El Avion looked really neat - it's built in an old plane - but we never got a chance to try it. Of all the CR places we've gone, MA has had the best restaurant choices.

We tried a new restaurant in MA called Kapi Kapi. More of a fine dining place. The atmoshpere and food were great and prices were reasonable.

Give it a try.

We're vodka drinkers, what we do is buy a bottle duty free on the way down. Vodka was expensive in the supermarkets, about $25.00 for a litre bottle if I remember correctly.

In MA, we enjoyed the tapas restaurant, Salsapuedes and El Gran Escape.

Thank you everyone. Very helpful. I think I can handle the lemon twist for the vodka martini from here. Lou

My favorite meal was at El Avion. Not only is built from a plane from Iran-Contra times, but they also built a deck that seems to fall off a cliff-and an excelletn place to watch an incredible sunset. That, plus the food is the best!!!
