Luxury Honeymoon
Hello Fodorites!
Any suggestions on location and resort? This is our criteria this Feb.:
1)adults only
2)nice beach (resort needs to be on beach)
3) good food
4)nice spa/ amenities
5)Super fancy pants...money is no object!! (geez that feels so good to say)
We would love a resort that allows us to STAY there and not have to leave to venture into the city. We are not big into crazy party crowds, clubs, etc.
Thank you!!!

if you want a luxury all inclusive the Grand Velas resort in Nuevo Vallarta looks very nice, and a new one is opening this winter in the Mayan Riviera...
Another very popular one is the Iberostar Grand Riviera Maya. Tripadvisor has lots of reviews...

I second looking into the Iberostar Paraiso Grand in Mexico's Riviera Maya. It is an adults only, all inclusive with great service, good food, and a beautiful beach.
Secrets Maroma should have their act together by Feb. and would be anouther good chhoice. They just opened and are having "growing pains" I've stayed at other Secrets resorts and they are great.

How about Paradisus Palma Peal in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic?
Or are you just looking at Mexico?
My husband and I had an amazing and romantic vacation--ask for the royal service--adults only, butler service...The resort is absolutely beautiful. Guests come from around the world in search of a luxury beach vacation.
The beach is gorgeous, the food is fantastic( several restaurants to choose from), and the drinks top notch--the place is all inclusive. Your butler reserves a "palapa" for you every morning (a king sized lounge mattress under a thatch roof right on the beach) and the drinks keep coming. The ambiance is very upscale and zen-like. The other side of the resort is for families, but you have your own cordoned off side of the beach, your own pool and bar.
We never left the resort. We relaxed and enjoyed each other's company.
Good luck!

Maroma would top my list. I am not a big fan of the typical AI. I prefer something different than a great chain hotel. Villa Rolandi is a beautiful little resort on Isla Mujeres. You can rent a golf cart to tour the island. The Caves in Negril Jamaica is the most romantic place I have ever been to and also different than most resorts.

Please look at Esencia and Maroma, both offer top notch luxury service. Rosewood Mayakoba is really pretty but too large for our taste and has too many children. Maroma does not allow anyone under age of 16. Esencia does allow children but usually not that many (it only has 29 rooms) If $$ is no object, book one of their cottages which offers a large private pool. Amazing! BTW, Maroma is closed temporarily for renovations, so I can only imagine they will be better than ever! We stayed in one of their Sian Neh Suites and it was wonderful as well.
We've stayed at both... please feel free to ask me any questions.
