los cabos

Just returned -By the way I am middle aged and do not mind spending for quality.

1) Restaurants-Best choice of restaurants is San Jose del cabo-notably Mi Cochina, Damiana, Morgan's and Fandago. Prices are equivalent to big city prices in US. All have dining under the stars-and all are very different environments. El Galleon in the Corridor is very romatic spot with beautiful view of the Sea of Cortez/mountains. We also ate at the Restaurant at Las Ventanas-gorgeous spot-very expensive-not worth it, and the restaurant in the Weston (Arrecides)-also not worth it.
2) Food-Alot of posts about folks getting sick-we had no problem-one would hope not at the restauants we frequented-however we also bought food at local super mercados and had no problem at all-just be smart-as you would be at home.
3) Rental car. This was unfortunate. We had reservations at Hertz, but when our flight got in-there was noone at the Hertz booth. They delivered a car to our hotel the next day. We heard a lot of folks complaining about the lack of cars from Hertz. Other rental agencies such as Thrifty seemed to have their act together better.

All in all a great vacation spot-lots to do,beautiful spot, great weather.
I am so happy to hear a good report. We ar going for our anniversary in June and I was getting so much bad press. Did you go into Cabo San Lucas? Is the town as dangerous as they say? Thanks for the imput. We are middle age as well and don't mind paying for quality.

We are staying at Casa del Mar for a few nights in April. Not interested in going into Cabo, so where is EL Galleon located? There is the Galleon restaurant on the harbour in town so it can't be that one? I'd still love to dine at Vastanas just to see it, so tell me was the dinner bad or just overpriced? And by overpriced, could you give me an idea of what it was? Was it a casual atmosphere or too stuffy?
Thought we would eat one night at CDM 7 then out somewhere the next, or perhaps the restaurant at Casa Natalia in San Jose. Thanks for any info!

PeggyE-I meant to say Da Giorgio in the Corridor-not El Galleon-sorry. Las Ventanas is gorgeous-the food was good-not to die for-the service was also not quite up to the beauty of the place. Prices $35-$60/entree, huge wine list. Many men wore jackets-but many did not-I did not take a jacket on the trip-no problem anywhere. All in all-the restaurants not affiliated with the mega hotels/resorts were more authentic, creative, and less expensive.

MKZUROWSKI-Cabo San Lucas is where the cruise ships come in and you get all the associated trappings-there are several new shopping 'malls' which are nice, however most of the town is typical Carribean island style tourist trap-not unsafe though. We bought nothing.

Thanks to all for these postings! You named some restaurants that I had never heard of before! We're making our 4th trip to Cabo the end of May. Peggy E, would love to see a report on how your trip went and any suggestions you might have. Would also like to know if anyone has ever traveled to any of the surrounding towns and how that went. Also any fishing trip suggestions. Thanks, eb
