Lima to Cuzco by Plane?
A friend and I planned to travel between these two cities by plane. We had budgeted about $100 for the flight. The other day while I tried to book the flight, the LAN site froze up on me, wouldn't reload the page, and the fare tripled in less than five seconds. I've tried several times since but the $100 fares have all vanished for all dates and now fares are all around $300, way beyond our budget. Is there any other option besides driving 20 hours each way? I know of only two airlines, LAN and Taca, and both are outrageously expensive for a 50 minute flight.

I flew in March 2007 from Lima to Cusco.
it certainly was not $100.00 !!!
That $100 must have been a "Flash" Special! That means it comes like a Flash and leaves like a Flash.
Airlines do put out these Flashes..you have to be quick and lucky...they do not last long.

I've always paid $200-$250 on LAN.
There's also Star Peru:

You don't say when you're traveling, but I plugged in a couple of dates later in August and, with taxes, came up with $150 round-trip.
Hills27 mentioned AeroCondor. Its website is:

Thanks for all the rapid replies and helpful links; I appreciate it! The $104 round trip fare was listed for eight consecutive weeks, so since I'd never flown that before I assumed that was the "normal" fare between the two cities. I know all about the temporary sale fares, but since that one was listed for two months every time I checked it, I just figured that was the regular non-sale fare. Given that LAN is flying between the US and Lima, Peru for about $350 these days, it doesn't make much sense that a one hour trip between two Peruvian cities costs almost as much ($300), but I guess that is how LAN operates.
Dates are August 18 to CUZ and August 22 return to LIM. I'm going to check those other links now.

If you can get a $350 fare round trip between the US and Lima jump on it. However, check to see how much more it would be to go from US to Cuzco. Generally, if you buy one ticket it is much cheaper than having to buy a separate ticket to Cuzco.
What airline and what departure city has such cheap fares from the US to Lima right now. I assume that does not include the hefty taxes.

Unfortunately I had already bought the US/Lima airfare, for $450, weeks ago, not thinking it would ever drop to $350. So the fare I got early, has since gone down, and the fare I waited for, has since gone up . . . story of my life.
LAN is the airline charging $350 between US and Lima, and $300 within Peru itself. I think Miami is the departing US city.

Take comfort in that you got a good fare from Miami to Lima. It's usually around $600 or higher.
Why don't you try changing your existing ticket? You never know, the difference in fare plus the change fee might end up being less than a full ticket between Lima and Cusco.
