Lima: Hotel Choices

I can't decide between four hotels in Lima: Swissotel, JW Marriott, Country Club Hotel, and Miraflores Park. Rates for the first three are comparable, but Miraflores Park is a little more:

Swissotel $160 USD
JW Marriott $145
Country Club $139 (for a larger room)
Miraflores: $210

We will be in Lima for two full days and nights. Which hotel should I choose? The Country Club Hotel seems to have the most local flavor since the other three are modern high-rises. Which has the best location for sightseeing, airport access, walking distance to restaurants?

I would choose the Marriott. It has a spectacular setting on a cliff above the Pacific and is right next to the LarcoMar shopping center.

Hmm! difficult question.

Swissotel, formerly known as the Oroverde hotel, good buffet breakfast located in a residential area next to an abandoned mall, I pass.

Lima Country Club, built in the early 1900,s, next to a golf course, located in a residential area, it does have a classic elegant local flavor, operated by a peruvian holding not an overseas hotel Chain, I think I pass.

Miraflores Park Plaza, operated by Orient Express, 15 year old hotel, Just remodeled, Modern looks and European elegance, located in a quiet residential area, a few blocks from the commercial area of Miraflores. good choice.

JW Marriot, located in the residential area of Miraflores, hands down the winner, its a new hotel, modern, elegant, great restaurants on-site and near good restaurants, but I dislike the hotel casino next to the Lobby.

All are 30 minute cab ride to airport,

I would also consider the Sonesta Olivar Posada del Inca Hotel, great hotel, a la Pair with the others.

hope this helps, good luck

You can currently snag los Delfines as cheap as $105 per night. At that price, it's a slam-dunk, IMHO.

Have fun!

Hi there,
A little know jewel in Lima is the Hotel Antigua Miraflores - you can contact them direclty. It is more inimate and local in flavor, but still very nice, with excellent service, for about half the price. It is the best location of any as it is closer to the local strip and restaurants - although still close to the shore and other hotels you mentioned. IF not, I would definately stay at the Park Plaza, the Mariott is just like being in the US way too touristy, the Country Club is too old and the rooms are small and smell musty to me, the Swissotel is Ok - BUT the Park Plaza is incredible. All the rooms have complete glass from floor to ceiling in the rooms with breathtaking views of the ocean - the pool is also on a high floor - not the ground, so it has a spectacular view. The service and staff are incredible. I personally always stay at the Hotel Antigua Miraflores as it is so quaint and personal - but the Park Plaza is my second choice when I want to endulge after being in the Rainforest for two weeks!
Have a wonderful time!
