Late November in CR

Hi,
I am planning a week trip to Costa Rica over Turkey Day (Thanksgiving), and was looking for advice on the weather and a good mix of places to go.
I am planning on staying on the Western side of the country...Tamarindo, Jaco, etc. but am also going to be spending a couple days on the rivers doing some kayaking.

The kicker is that I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend in CR, so if you could help with a nice romantic place, I would appreciate it! I have heard si como no is awesome.

You might want to think about Makanda by the Sea instead of Si Como No. It is adult only so you wouldn't have to worry about kids running around. It is a popular place for honeymoons.

There is a hotel outside of Montezuma where everyone has their own little bungalos, i cannot remember the name of it, but it is pretty popular so i am sure a quick yahoo search of hotels in the area will pull it up... it is kind of a european feel... a great place for a proposal, all the bungalos are on the water with a crazy view.... very romantic

Also consider Villa Caletas, close to Jaco, on top of a mountain with amazing views...Another hotel I recommend in Tamarindo is the Cala Luna...

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions...

That is exactly what happened to us!! My husband proposed to me during our trip to Costa Rica over Thanksgiving 2000. We spent two weeks traveling all over the country and spent the last 4 days at a private beach house that we rented on the Osa Peninsula called Casa Bambu. It was very romantic, private and I had no idea what he had planned. He proposed while we were sitting on a driftwood log on the beach and watching the sunset.
This was by far, my favorite part of our trip- not just because of our engagement, also for the unique experience. This was where we saw the largest variety of wildlife, hiked, climbed waterfalls, watched sunsets and simply relaxed together. I have to admit that I was dying to tell someone at home about our engagement, but there wasn't a phone. The website for Casa Bambu is http://www.casabambu-beach-house-rentals.com/

If you want some place less private and still romantic, I would recommend La Mariposa in Manuel Antonio. It was very nice with spectacular views.

The weather during this time of year was hot and super humid.

Regarding places to go, this is what we did:

2 nights San Jose, stayed at Grano De Oro
-whitewater rafting on the Paquare River
-visit San Jose
3 nights Monteverde, stayed at El Sapo Dorado
-hikes in the cloud forest
1 night Arenal, stayed at Montana de Fuego
-view volcano
-hot springs
6 nights Manuel Antonio, stayed at la Mariposa
-hiking
-beaches
-zip line over the forest
-deep sea fishing(we ate fresh Tuna for Thanksgiving dinner)
-relaxing
3 nights Osa Peninsula, stayed at Casa Bambu
-hiking
-waterfalls
-beach
-wildlife
-privacy

Best of luck!
