Kempinski hotels

Anyone have experience with Park Plaza Kempinski or Park Chateau Kempinski. I understand they are located in Recoleta area but I don't find them in guide books.

Here is their website: http://www.parkplazahotels.com/

The Park Plaza is located in the best part of Recoleta not far from the Alvear Palace Hotel. The Chateau is located on a quiet street not far from Ave. Santa Fe.

The lobbies of both hotels look impressive...very old worldish and formal. Reviews are mixed. Some people love these hotels. Others complain about staff, poorly functioning air conditioning, etc.(more so for the Chateau than the Park Plaza).

Hope this helps.

I see there are 2 other hotels in the group and one seems to have a pool...the Park Elegance...what is the location like? The rest of the hotel? Is it airconditioned?

Thanks in advance,
Irish Chic

Decided to try the Park Plaza, the location sounds good. We'll be going in early November, any suggestions as to clothing? Could this hotel have been some other name before it became a Kempinski?

I just came back from argentina! stayed in both chateu and park plaza, and hate both of them! the lobby in both is lovely! but the rooms are completly over rate! I like boutique hotels and thats why I choose to stay there, even do there was someone here in fodors, that sayed kempinsky suchs! I didn't pay attention to it! and it is true!!! don't go there!!! there is no internet, phones are very expensive in the hotel (they belive they are 5*) food is great! the elevators are nightmares, both hotels are noicy (because the inside noice!). I stayed in arthotel (just 30 rooms), almost new, 8 blocks away from the cementery (recoleta) and 12 away from a shopping center....in recoleta! was really not expensive 45 for a twin, 55 for a queen a 65 for a king......I took the king because the other ones a too small for me.....breakfast was better in kempinski, .....better than this arthotel is sofitel!!!! lovely!!!!!!!!!!

Dear CCry
I stayed at Park Chateau two years ago and really enjoyed the hotel. No complaints whatsoever. The Kempinskis are small boutique hotels with a classic decor and incredible service. I really loved the location of Park Chateau since it was only a couple of blocks from Santa Fe, but I also know that the Park Plaza is very well located and is near the Patio Bullrich, an upscale shopping mall.
There is nothing negative I could mention about the Park Chateau or the Park Plaza so as far as I'm concerned, enjoy your trip..you'll do just fine.

Am I a prophet or what? As I said earlier, reviews are mixed regarding these hotels....as you can see from the differing perspectives posted here.....

you are wright everything depens on perpective; if you are not picky kempoinsky is fine....the problem with me is that I'm really picky, ( I love boutique hotels such as the savoy in London) therefor kempinsky didn't fit me.

Funny..
I thought I was picky too..but I guess I don't border on obsessive..
Anyway, Ccry..I don't want to fill your head with other hotel choices if you already made up your mind on the Kempinskis. I hope the choice you make turns out the best for you.
Paulie.
