Iberostar Questzal - Mexico

My boyfriend and I, along with two other couples, are planning on going to Iberostar Quetzal in Playa del Carmen late Aug/early Sept.

I'd love to hear from anyone who's been there and has any comments? What are the rooms like? What's the beach like? Is the food good - what about for vegetarians?

Any help or insight would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

We went in Nov/Dec last year. Nice location, beach is beautiful (had some damage from Mitch at the time but still nice). Lots of Europeans, especially germans. Food was fine, not sure for veggies but likely not a problem there was a vast selection. Only complaint might be the size of the property - the two hotels combined have 1500 rooms! The upside of that is that the entertainment in the evenings is well done. The rooms are nice, had a monkey on our balcony one day - not uncommon. I would suggest that you get a room close to the beach and it would be worth calling in advance to request that. We started at the back of the property and moved up after a few days. Just a bit of a distance to the beach otherwise.
Enjoy! It is beautiful.
Bogus info....the resort is 700 rooms...not 1500...yikes...
it's a lovely resort...lots of vegaterian food...lots of GOOD food! my husband and i were there in May for 8 days and loved every minute of it. The rooms are very comfortable, with huge marble showers (room for two). The beach is great... alittle steep getting n and out as there has been some erosion. But the water is fabulous and you can swim out to a sand bar and frolic in the waves. We loved it!!! You will enjoy this resort. The staff is very courteous... the resort is very well run and extremely clean. Our room was 1200's near the pool. We loved the central location. Our maid who we tipped daily left flowers in our room every day. She was sooo sweet.

Have a great time. You will enjoy Iberostar!!!

My husband and I went on a second honeymoon to the Iberostar and were totally impressed by the resort. We went this past June for a week. We stayed on the Tucan side of the resort. It's a large place, but we never felt crowded. It's spread out and has beautiful jungle pathways between the Quetzal and Tucan resorts. Lots of birds and even monkeys and iguanas. Service was excellent. They were very polite, friendly, and helpful. We felt very secure with our room, the resort and the food. My husband and I didn't get ill once and they had a lot to choose from in food. I liked the rooms a lot. They were spacious and tastefully decorated. All in all, we had a wonderful time, the iberostar was the best choice for us.
