How popular is Latin America with folks from the US?

I guess that in the last few years there has been a dramatic increased in the number of American tourists visiting Latin America. Specially south of Mexico.
Several factors, with the Euro , Europe prices have risen a lot, like paying 5 euros for a crepe in one of those stands in parks in Paris, also the question of security.Thousands of cars burning in Paris, bombing in London subways, trains blowing up in Madrid. Those horrible attacks, insane attacks have not taken place in vain.
Although most of us try to forget them, those things did happened...
