Hotels around $150 in Palermo Soho
Looking for a list of hotels around $150 USD that are recommended in the Palermo Soho area of BA...if that's even realistic. I am in like with the Mine Hotel, but it may be a bit too much for me. Once I get a list of hotels, I can check them out. Thanks!

Third week in December for a week and maybe two nights at the end of our trip in early January. Thanks! I really like the Mine hotel, Miravida and Home, but the Mine and Home are just a little above our price range.

I've stayed at the Mine and Home. The Mine was a better location but the Home is AMAZING. They will pamper and over-accommodate you. The people at the Mine were also nice, but the room was much smaller and the walls were paper thin. The Home is worth every cent.

We enjoyed our stay at Miravida Soho -- small boutique hotel in a great location. We stayed in the suite which is very nice and one of the smaller rooms. Both rooms were very quiet. Hotel has the feel of a small European hotel and is decorated in a more traditional style. The owner, James, and his staff are really great. They serve hot breakfasts that you order each day off a menu. Small wine bar which has a nice selection of wines and snacks also offered.

I also stayed at Mine and Home. Agree location for Home is better, and the outdoor garden and pool are just great.
But, I had read on TA about noise problems at Mine, and just wanted to be on record that we had NONE at all. Couldn't hear a thing from our room!!
Noise was actually more of an issue at Home, particularly for our friends whose room was over the bar. Storage is not good either for your stuff. But, that's the trendy design for you.

palermosoholoft.com It's in Palermo Soho. I have no idea what the price is as I e-mailed them some days ago and haven't gotten a response yet. If you decide to contact them and get a response, please post their rates. I was trying to get a rate for the end of August, but am still waiting to hear from them. Happy Travels!

I just got a response from the Palermo Soho Loft and it's US$180. TOTAL , with all taxes included. And there's the Kendra restaurant attached to the hotel. I'm always looking for convenient and excellent restaurants when I'm not renting an apartment.
I just did some research, on that restaurant, and it's supposedly quite good and a local hangout. Plus, it has a wide menu, more than steak. I stopped eating meat/poultry over 30 years ago. So, I always need a varied menu and one that I can work around my 3 food allergies. Smiles.
One of the restaurant reviews that I just read can be found at: http://www.biddingtons.com/contents/...staurants.html
There were a lot of restaurants reviewed in Buenos Aires on that website. Happy Travels!

Oh, there's also the Soho All Suites, in Palermo Soho. It's around 3 blocks away from the Palermo Soho Loft.
The Soho All Suites is already sold out for my dates at the end of August! I'm waiting to hear back from the Palermo Soho Loft and then might put in a reservation there for 5 days of my 8-day Buenos Aires stay. I just need to know what their cancellation policy is and have some questions answered that I just e-mailed them. Happy Travels!

I've now received several e-mails from palermosoholofts and I have made my reservation there for 5 nights of my 8 nights. Now, I'll have to decide on where I want to stay for the other three nights. Well, actually, I know where I "want" to stay...at the Four Seasons...but I'll have to wait and see. I'm one who personally doesn't like to put all of my eggs in one basket and usually stay in more than one place on the same trip and in the same city.
Isn't Home in Palermo Hollywood? I remember seeing it on a map and in the 5800-hundred block of Honduras. I was in the 5400 block of Nicaragua right on the border of Hollywood and Soho and to go in the direction of Soho, the numbers get smaller. Happy Travels!

It depends on where you're walking to in Soho. I was on a private walking tour of Palermo Hollywood and Soho, and the guide and I started at my apartment building in Palermo Hollywood, and then walked , for two hours, through Hollywood and Soho. After the two hour walk, ending on the street of the Armenian Church, in Soho, I can't remember the name of the street, I told him to flag a taxi and we would taxi back to my apartment. The bad knee was starting to flare up.
So, to walk from where Home is, which is further into and away from, Soho than the apartment building that I stayed in, I would say at least half an hour or more depending on how fast you walk and the heat of December. I got lucky and arrived a week or two after the horrid 90-95 degree heat wave. I got cool weather at around 73-84 degrees the whole week.
Why not just stay in more than one hotel? I do it all of the time. Stay at Home, for 4 days, if that's more affordable for you and then at the Mine for 3 days, seeing that you will be staying for a week.
I stayed both in Palermo Hollywood and Recoleta within 8 days. I had 5 nights in Hollywood and 2 nights, and a whole day extension, in Recoleta at the end of the week.
On this upcoming trip, I plan, two nights in San Telmo, possibly one at the Four Seasons in another area, and 5 nights at palermosoholoft.com which I've just booked. I put soho at the end of the week stay since I asked if they would give me a 6PM checkout time and an early check in time and they said it would not be a problem.
I have a 9PM flight and don't want to be out, in the street, at 12 noon, or earlier, to wonder around and in the cold winter (August).
A lot of flights leave out of Buenos Aires late at night which you need to keep in mind. When I ended my stay in Recoleta, at my boutique hotel, I paid the extra $170. to be able to check out at 8PM instead of 11AM or 12PM. That was a little over half of the price of the room per night.
I didn't want out be rushed out. I had an 11:25PM flight back to L.A. via N.Y. I asked them, at check in, if they could give me a late checkout time. They didn't know until the day of checkout and then okayed it. Other guests were not so lucky as the lobby was full of people hanging around and looking very tired.
As for Palermo Hollywood to Soho, you'll have to walk around the railroad track that divides the two. I remember my remis driver getting so frustrated as he was driving me from the airport into Palermo Hollywood. He drove through Soho and then got to streets that dead ended at the railroad track and was trying to figure out what street would go through and go around the railroad track. Happy Travels!

I have been to Home a number of times for cocktails and am one of the few that is not crazy about it. Do not like the location -it is quite a hike from Palermo Soho on the other side of the tracks. Plus, noise may be a problem as the hotel bar is popular and stays open late.

Hmmm...Lots to think about. Great posts by the way. I really am back and forth between those two places. I want to be where it's easy to get around. My hubby crashed his paraglider 4 years ago and although he's a tough cookie, I'd rather save his major walking for museums and sites. The other 5 of us are big walkers.
Maybe I should stick to the Mine hotel. Maybe I should read more reviews.
I think two hotels might be interesting, but I think we'd do it, one place at the first part of our trip and one for a couple nights before we leave. Interesting on the late check out. We want to fly Continental and we can't buy tix for another couple weeks.
Keep the suggestions coming. Thanks so much...you really should know how much I appreciate you!

Skatedancer- I doubt if one could even walk in 5-10 minutes from where Home is located, to where my apartment building in Palermo Hollywood was. And my building was at the cross street of Juan B. Justo. which divides Hollywood from Soho. But that part of Soho is nothing special. One would need to walk deeper into Soho.
I asked, the receptionist, at my apartment building, how far it would be to walk to the Soho All Suites and was told that it would be 5 or 6 blocks from my apartment building. I didn't walk it that day. But, that would have been more than 15 minutes. Happy Travels!

Weekender- I should have walked down there and taken a look at the place, but for me the interior design of the place just wouldn't do. It totally looked like my bedroom, back in the 60s, when I was a child. Maybe for younger people, that retro style works, but for me personally, I don't need to go back to the 60s. Smiles. Been there, done that. Smiles. Happy Travels!
