Honeymooning in Costa Rica
My fiance and I are thinking about going to Costa Rica for our honeymoon in mid-July. We were wondering if it is a good place for this or if you have any other suggestions. We're looking for something between seclusion and civilization. All the help we can get would be greatly appreciated!

Kelli, these are my favorite websites for CR info. The 1st is a BBS for questions & answers, the second a website filled with links and information. Have a great time.

www.casualforums.com/globe/CR_Forum/

http://sony.inergy.com/CRica/

http://www.costaricapages.com/

http://www.tourism-costarica.com/

http://www.vanweb.com/

Bee, I just pulled up that site and it did have a very recent post on it. Possibly that was the wrong URL. This has been copied and pasted from the address bar of my browser. Sorry for the problem.

http://www.casualforums.com/globe/CR...rum=forum_01&r

Wow, you guys made a great choice. I went to costa rica last december with a friend of mine and I swore that when I got married I was going to go there for my honeymoon. I definately recomend Quepos. It's a cute little village close to Manuel Antonio National Park. I know this sounds corny but Hotel California looked like a good place to stay. To tell you the truth most of the hotels within a mile or two of the park seemed to be excellent places to stay. Very high class. I hope this helps you out.

We just returned from a honeymoon trip to CR. We stayed at Tabacon Lodge near the Arenal Volcano and at Tango Mar which is on the Nicoya Peninsula near Tambor. We loved both places. The volcano is active which is very cool when it rumbles and at night when you can see the lava/rocks tumbling down the mountain. Tango Mar was on the beach and the service and resort itself was very good.

Both have we sites to see more:

www.tabacon.com
www.tangomar.com

Scott: I would love to know anything more you can tell me about Tabacon Lodge. We're leaving Nov. 20 for 2 weeks in CR and are staying one night at Tabacon and two at Arenal Lodge (tried to get in to Tabacon for all 3 nights but it was booked for 2 of them). How many nights did you stay there? Do you remember what room you had and did it have a good view? I am glad to hear you liked it since I've read mixed things about it on this and other forums -- any details about the resort and your stay there would be appreciated. How are the massages or other spa services? Did you do any tours or excursions that you would recommend? How was the food at Tabacon, and are there any other restaurants in the area you would recommend?

Also, did you rent a car and drive up to Tabacon yourself? How were the roads? What rental company did you use? We have heard horror stories about the roads and are using a driver for part of the trip, planes for part of it, and a rental car for 4 days.

Any other general tips about CR -- currency, airport, etc. We have done our homework in terms of lots of websites and guidebooks, but tips from recent vacationers would be appreciated. Thanks!
