girls trip in May 2007

Recommendation on where to get an all-inclusive (not a family resort preferred) in Mexico - not Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta. Flying from Chicago in May 2007. Short trip - 4-5 days. Anyone know anything about Mazatalan (sp)? Thanks for any help you can give me!

I've been to Mazatlan three times, it was OK but not as much 'fun' as Cabo San Lucas or Puerto Vallarta, at least for my tastes.

From your post I'd think Puerto Vallarta or Cabo or maybe Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo would be better fits than Mazatlan (which might still be better than Manzanillo or Acapulco, in my experience).

Just curious as to why you have Vallarta on your 'no' list ... most people would put it pretty high on the list if looking for a Pacific resort with a nice blend of genuine Mexico with tourist Mexico.

I also am wondering why a definite no to Puerto Vallarta?

I understand not Cancun certanly. The people I know who used to go to Mazatlan, once they went to PV, well never went back to Mazatlan... for what it's worth.

Zijuat/Ixtapa (with the all-inclusives in the hotel zone of Ixtapa) is another suggestion.

As a winter resident of Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa I can tell you that there are virtually no AI in Zihua & almost nothing else in Ixtapa. however with all the marvelous restaurants at ALL price points (dinner from $3 US to $100), inexpensive cabs & dirt cheap buses AI is not the way to go IMO. Check out www.zihuatanejo.net for great info on both cities but 4 miles apart.

I think Puerto Vallarta is your best choice lots of good restaurants, discotheques, salsa dance clubs, beautifull beaches and the people is so friendly.
I love Purtp Vallarta if you have a chance go visit the River Cafe is my favorite restaurant.
