First Trip to Costa Rica
We are going to CR for the first time. We've already booked two nights in San Jose at Finca Rosa Blanca in the Rosa suite. Can anyone recommend which volcano we should drive to go see? We will have a SUV rental car. We are here for 2 1/2 days.
We are then driving to Issimo Suites at Manuel Antonio. We will also be here two nights - 2 1/2 days. We are then driving back late to San Jose so we will be close to the airport for our early flight out. I would love to hear what someone recommends we do. Thanks so much in advance.

Our favorite thing in MA was doing a guided tour of the park; we saw tons of wildlife, and the beach inside the park is very pretty. Make sure you don't go on Monday; the park is closed then. We went sailing too - that was pretty fun. The snorkeling was pretty bad, so I wouldn't bother. Horseback riding with Finca Valmy and the Damas mangrove tour are really popular also. Lots of good restaurants in the area; go early to enjoy the sunset views.

Poas volcano is for sure your best option, if you can be there first time in the morning you can bit the clouds, the walk to the crater and the Bottos lagoon is about 1.5 hours, there isn´t a lot of wildlife to see, if you little birds meabe you can see some of them. In Manuel Antonio the guided tour of the national park is the best tour, you would be able to see a lot of monkeys, sloths, frogs, insects, and a lot more. After the walk you can stay at the beaches inside the park, they are the nices´t ones in the area. The mangrove is also a great choice, it is very relaxing and the scenery is very diferent to what you see in the national park. Remember the mangrove trip depends of the high tide, it is the only time possible to tour the mangroves. NATUREGUIDE

We spent the day in MA national park without a guide and saw a ton of animals: sloths, anteaters, boa constrictor, 2 types of monkeys, plus lots of birds. The beaches are so gorgeous we wished that we'd brought a lunch with us. As it was we had to leave the park for food and had to cut our visit short. (we could have re entered the park, but after we left, we decided to spend the rest of the day near out rental house.)
We used shuttles instead of renting a car for our drive to MA. Once you are in MA it is easy to use the bus, inexpensive taxis or just walk.
For activities in MA we ziplined, repelled down a waterfall, went deep sea fishing and tried surfing (not the best...)
Have fun.
