Fiesta Premier

Travelers:
I am looking at the Fiesta Premier Resort in Guanacaste/Papagayo. Website looks great.
Does anyone have any information about the hotel? Any thoughts?
Many thanks. Bill

Bill, the Fiesta Premier was formerly Blue Bay. It has been completely redone, as you may know. We have driven by there and know a couple of kids who work activities there, but haven't stayed. I, too, will be anxious to hear what people who have stayed there have to say about it. It doesn't get much mention on this board, probably because the AI resorts of Costa Rica aren't all that popular for a lot of folks. However, it was our first visit to the Allegro Papagayo, also an AI, that really hooked us on Costa Rica. The Fiesta Premier is very near to both the Allegro and the new Four Seasons. They are all down the same road leading onto the Papagayo Peninsula. I do know that there are no nearby off-property restaurants, so if you want to get out and explore on your own, you'd want to rent a car or hire a taxi. There are some excellent tours offered in the Rincon de la Vieja area from Papagayo.

There are some good trip reports at Debbies Caribbean Resort Reviews
http://www.debbiescaribbeanresortrev...ostrevind.html
Just hit Fiesta Premeire and Spa

Mixed opinions but overall seems very good. Allegro Papagayo is also on the site with trip reports. Fiesta isn't as remotely located as Allegro & Four Seasons. Small brown sand beach and the hills on which the rooms are on are not too steep.

Good Luck

My wife and I stayed at the Fiesta Premier in February/March 2004. I can't say enough good things about the place. We also had a difficult time trying to find any information about the place. It seems that not many people have stayed there since the renovation or they're staying tight lipped to keep the place all to themselves. In any case it is a beautiful, clean, well run resort with the nicest staff you'll ever find. I found the food there outstanding and our room was clean and well looked after. Plenty of hot water, towels, soap etc. etc. I've read some of the nightmares people have experienced with different AI's on this sight but I have to say this was not the case with us. We saw some of the other resorts that neighbor the Feista Premier and I can tell you that they do not compare. Where the other places (El Nakuti) looked like they needed a good landscaper and a few thousand gallons of water, the Feista Premier was lush and beautiful. This is not a fast paced resort so if you're going there to party you may want to try somewhere else. This is a place to enjoy nature and relax.

Could be a problem. As a precaution, you should use some repellant especially after 5:00 in the evening. We haven't gotten as many mosquito bites in the Papagayo area as we have those little chigger-like things, no-see-ums. They'll make you insane! And not in a good way.

just came back last week from the Fiesta Premier Resort & Spa. The resort is gorgeous. It is a bit spread out. We had room #202, which was nice because we didn't need the shuttle to get to/from our room. Some people were complaining about being further away & needed the shuttle. The staff at the resort was also great.

Shillmac, I read one of your posts before we left, and we did meet Roberto. In fact he ate breakfast with us one morning.

The mosquitos were bad at night, but the bar staff had OFF for guests, but it does run out quickly. I would suggest bringing a couple of bottles with you & bring it with you at night.

We rented a car for a few days to explore a little bit of the country. Adobe Car Rental has an agency onsite & they were great (ask for Alan.)

So glad you had a good time, BBT. So glad to know Roberto is alive and well! We have known him 3 years and have visited him at several resorts where he has worked. We've even videoed some of his shows and sent him the videos. Very nice guy. Lots of fun. We've lost e-mail contact with him the last 6 months or so. Sounds like a very nice property. Thanks for the news!
