Entry Fee to Argentina in 2009
I was just skimming through the online version of the Economist
(www.Economist.com). According to the Economist, Argentina will be imposing an entry tax on citizens of US, Britain, Canada and other countries. The tax will be based on the fee that those countries charge citizens of Argentina upon entry. The Economist estimates that US citizens will pay about $ 130.oo to enter Argentina.
I think folks should be aware of this.

Oh! I did not read the prior thread. The title of the thread did not refer in any way to the subject.
Anyway, it is very discouraging to hear that a country that has been deperate for foreign currency would levy the fee. The new fee will discourage DH and me from going to the
NW of Argentina in 2010. This is a trip that I have been hoping to make.

I should note that one reason we visited Argentina last year instead of Brazil or Chile was a lack of such a fee in Argentina. Fortunately the world is a large place and there are always new places to go and old places to revisit.
