ditching the kids this time

Hello everyone. well we are ditching the kids this time and we are planning our first out of country vacation. We like the idea of all inclusive for we want to eat and drink as much as we want. "Las Vegas did us wrong there". Anyways, she wants to have the local nite time entertainment. Dance halls casinos etc. Snorkeling be a great activity during the day. we are beginner surfers and cant find much for that. but we are ok if we can substitute with other activities. She likes to shop and hang with locals. Id like to be able to enjoy the local cannibis on the beach on the moonlite be cool. We dont do that stuff and we probably only drink a few beers amonth. got outdated beer in fridge.. flying from kansas july 20-27. Any ideas. $2,500 max for two people

I don't think most beach resorts in Mexico (any?) have casinos.

I think looking in the Playa del Carmen area (fly into Cancun) and head south 1 hour sounds like what you are after.

Realize that July is summer-time so hot, humid, and technically "the rainy season".

Oops I missed the pot part. You do NOT want to do that in Mexico. Try Jamaica instead.

Dance halls and pot would indicate Jamaica or the Caribbean, certainly not Mexico.

Negril Jamaica comes the closest to this request of any place I've ever personally been.

Sorry Taylor, but it's not ok to do that in Mexico, it's forbidden by law. And DO NOT bribe the police too! Go to Jamaica or stay in the US (Colorado or Washington) to do that!

Well you heard wrong. Believe us, you really do not want to get involved with drugs in Mexico.

My friend smoked but she brought hers with her.
I saw one or two casinos in Cancun en route to the ferry for Isla Mujeres, but heard they are kind of lame.
Not sure the Riviera Maya is right for you or AI either especially if you do not drink much. Fantastic snorkeling and PDC has some nightclubs but wrong coast for surfing.

She brought hers with her? With full body xray machines in U.S. airports? Wow.

In Playa Del Carmen you may encounter some guys on 5th Ave. who, if they detect that you might be game, will say to you, "want some weed?" And if you go with them and do a deal, the police will jump out and arrest you, and will pay the guy for bringing them their latest gringo bust. That is how it works, so don't try it unless you want to be doing an episode of Locked Up Abroad.

Maybe she drove down? Even so...

I'm not saying it's not there to be had. Or that you might not be asked. Just for myself this is nothing I'd risk as a tourist on vacation in Mexico. If you are living there, or know people who are living there, then it is different.

Someone smuggled pot into Mexico?

Maybe if people had seen the police vehicles with machine guns mounted on them, they'd consider how seriously Mexico takes this stuff.

Do not buy drugs in Mexico. Do not smuggle drugs into Mexico.

OK then, back to my first post. While there aren't "dance halls and casinos" Playa del Carmen has an active nightlife and a lot to offer. And there's loads of nice hotels and resorts in that area.

For what you describe, I'd choose that... or Negril Jamaica.

Here is the best website I know of for each of those to give you an idea about them:

www.negrilonestop.com

Guys I did not ask her how she brought it in, she did mention she got some more from a friend who lives down there as well.

Yes we drove all around and saw plenty of police as usual.

PDC is too built up for me, but might suit the OP for nightlife and lots of restaurants in all price ranges. Snorkeling is not great right there, I'd head to either Akumal or Puerto Morelos for that, easy day trip.

When someone wants 'dance halls and casinos' by the nature of that request you are going to have to go someplace that is at least somewhat "built up".

I don't see a problem getting it from someone living local. What I thought was crazy was bringing it into the country, or for a newbie who doesn't have any connections to seek it out.

If this is not a troll it is possibly the most non thinking post I have ever seen.
Those "kids" may not see there parents for years if ever when arrested in Mexico. Jails are incredibly nasty. They do not even feed you so those kids will have to go to work just to send you food money. Anyone with a lick of sense does nor go to foreign lands & break laws.
