I would like a copy of your report. I am going to Costa Rica May 9-May 17, 2002. My friend's daughter is there for the spring semester. We have no concrete plans but want to see the San Jose,Rain Forest, Cloud Forest, Emmanual Antonio,Costa Verde. We had planned to rent a car any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Hi Tia,
I would love to read your trip report as I enjoyed the reply you had written about the Allegro Resort Papagayo. We are planning a trip there next March & were interested in the quality of the beach & hotel Thanks Jan

Your husband sounds like a jerk. I couldn't read much past your insulting rendition of the cab ride to Arenal Lodge. You're why my third trip to CR is my last. Hope everyone enjoys the Tabacon "resort".

To afdip:

I'm quite insulted by your remarks about my husband who is in fact one of the most wonderful people in the world. He is certainly not a jerk and would NEVER do anything to offend ANYONE, especially someone as kind and gracious as the cab driver we encountered while in Arenal. If you cannot stand to read our trip report, that's fine, don't read it. It's posted in a light-hearted way to help others who are thinking of going or planning a trip to C.R. I just hope there are other Fodorites out there who will not make snap judgements against someone they have never met and will read the trip report and maybe gain some helpful info which is why I posted it in the first place. Actually, I'm glad to hear that you won't be returing to C.R. as it will be a better place for others who are more appreciative of the beauty of the country and it's people (who were all wonderful to us as we were to them).

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Tabacon. The staff were friendly, the grounds beautiful, and the view was great, however it is just not a place that I choose to stay because it doesn't give me, personally, the feeling (for lack of a better word) for the country. I would not tell someone NOT to stay there, but would just give them my opinion of the resort and let them make up their own mind.

To all other Fodorites, if I can lend any help to anyone seeking info on C.R., please feel free to post or e-mail, however please keep your negative comments to yourself as I am trying to HELP, not OFFEND anyone. Thank you.

P.S. This was a once in a lifetime trip for us as we've been saving for this trip for nearly 10 years. I just want to say that it was well worth the wait as C.R. is a beautiful country with absolutely wonderful people. I would highly recommend going to anyone. Please don't let the negative comments of others influence your choices as no one will enjoy the same place/things as others.

Hi Tia:
Don't even blink an eye at those negative comments. You are always going to find a few people like that. Your comments and trip report have helped many people looking for information so just continue on posting, please!

Tia, Thanks for your post, however, I do not know how to get your report or what"topping" is. Technology is not my thing, people are! Anyhow, I'd like to read it and hear about your experiences. Ditto, for the JERK that insulted you. Some people are just negative, but most of us just don't give them any credibility!. Thanks

Thanks for your trip report. It was great! I think I'm getting a little nervous about driving on the roads. Your experience seemed to span the range of wonderful to frustrating to hilarious. Thanks again, I will be using some of your info.
