Does anyone know whether Capitan Suizo has hair dryers in their rooms? What about alarm clocks? I know these are inconsequential questions, but I'm trying to conserve space in my luggage. Thanks!

leave them home! I called Capitan Suizo and they confirmed they have a dryer and an alarm clock in all rooms.

What restaurant advice do you have?

In Tamarindo, I am planning to eat at Jardin del Eden, Cala Luna (I believe it's called Cala Moresca), and Stella.

In Escazu, I plan to visit La Monastere, La Luz (at the Hotel Alta), El Invernadero, and Cerruti.

Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am not the right person to ask about food. Maybe you should post another message on the subject. However, I have just heard great things about the restaurant in Cala Luna, and I was told it is probably the best restaurant in Tamarindo.
I have eaten at Hotel Alta. It is very fancy, but I don't remember being to impressed. But again, I am not the right person to ask...

Fluffnfold, I don't believe that there are hairdryers at Capitan Suizo. I stayed there 3 times and don't recall them!

As to restaurants, check out the Lazy Wave and Bruno's. Stella's was also good. Skip Jardin del Eden. The restaurant at Capitan Suizo is also good.

Answering my own question!

There was a wall-mounted hair dryer in my first-floor A/C room at Capitan Suizo. It also had a (really old-fashioned) radio, but no clock. The rooms have phones, but they only work within the hotel to contact the front desk. The rooms have a mini-fridge (empty except for the free bottle of water that they provide), which comes in handy if you want to buy drinks/snacks at the nearby supermercado (an easy 5 minute walk).

My husband and I were not impressed with Stella's in Tamarindo although it was highly recommended to us. It was expensive and the service was VERY SLOW! The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. They do have a new chef, I think. Perhaps the service has picked up a bit. There was a marimba band playing. . .they were AWFUL, (and I am very tolerant) and drunk as well! Very loud, right next to our table, and one of them kept coming over and trying to talk! I love people, especially the Ticos (these guys were not Ticos), but I remember this dining experience being less than desirable!
