Costa Rica
Two questions for the travelers here...

First, has anyone used Costa Rica Connection for tours? I checked out their website and they have some interesting tours, but I wonder whether they are reputable.

Also, there are 4 of us going to Costa Rica in November...my husband and I and two stepsons aged 18 and 21. So we're looking at 2 hotel rooms wherever we go. I'm thinking that renting a house may be more cost-efficient than some of the hotels with $100+/day room rates. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your replies!

Hi Nancy. In response to your second question, there are some hotel rooms or villas that will accommodate 4 people. We stayed in a wonderful villa at Villa Caletas (www.hotelvillacaletas.com) last November that had a sleeping area with a queen sized bed, and a separate sitting area with two twin daybeds. I believe there were glass doors between the two that could be closed for privacy, although we never did that because there were only two of us so I'm not sure. It doesn't hurt to look into it. The room had two large balconies and wonderful ocean views. Last year they had a "green season special" of $85 per night for a villa if you stayed for at least 3 nights. It was a truly magical place. I also highly recommend Vista del Valle in Alajuela (www.vistadelvalle.com) -- they definitely have some large cottages that accommodate families.

Hi Nancy,
I don't know where you're planning on going while in CR, but I found a nice house for rent (CHEAP!) in Manuel Antonio. Their web address is:
www.biesanz.com/cabin/htm
We used Costa Rica Connection this summer for a 10 day trip. We picked places where we wanted to go and hotels where we wanted to stay and they arranged all reservations plus all transportation within Costa Rica and international flights. I can highly recommend their services - everything was as arranged, drivers always on time and very helpful.
We worked with Brad who was knowledgeable, professional and very pleasant to deal with.

Thanks for the encouragement about Costa Rica Connection. Their tours look very well done, so I'll be more inclined to use them this fall.

As far as the accomodations, yes, I have seen that house for rent near Manuel Antonio but they are booked for the time we would be there. The hotels everyone mentioned look very nice, but I was thinking of something a little less 'touristy.' My stepsons are both fluent in Spanish and the older stepson has been to Costa Rica twice before. So I was hoping for a trip where we would blend in a little more with the locals by having a house somewhere.

I appreciate all the info, but would still like anyone else's input as far as rentals which would have two bedrooms.

Thanks,

Nancy
