We've always just booked private drivers through our hotels when we've reserved them and used taxis once we're in town. You can also search the board for driver recommendations; there are lots on here. To give you an idea of costs, it will run you about $140 to go from SJO to the Arenal area; they charge a flat fee regardless of how many people you have as long as they all fit in the van. Most of them are nice, air conditioned, etc.

It has been a few years now but I booked a trip to MA & Arenal with the help of this forum's experts. We were so happy with everything and both places we stayed were great. You can go to my profile and check out my trip report and linked pics for a few ideas. I'm envious, read to plan a return visit!

kchill68 - your photos are amazing.
I'm still trying to decide where I want us to me for Dec 24-26 and New Years. I have an 8 year old son so Christmas is still very important. Plan is Arenal, MA, and San Raman. Just not sure what order and how many days. Suggestions???
