Contact info for Chachagua Rain Forest Lodge
Hola a todos:
We are planning our first trip to Costa Rica for the end of July and have been quite successful in booking our own hotel reservations, air flights, etc. The only hotel that I cannot contact via email or phone is the Chachagua Rain Forest Lodge near La Fortuna. Does anyone have any leads for me? (the guidebooks have outdated info).
Also, we are renting a car and driving around the country, and I have tried to buy a book called "The Essential Road Guide for Costa Rica", compiled and written by Bill Baker. I can't find it on Amazon, used book store websites, etc. Thanks so much!

Can't help with the hotel contact, but http://www.bluejeweltravel.com/Costarica.html claims to have a copy of "The Essential Road Guide for Costa Rica", for $23.95

Dear Ray:
Thank you very much for this info. I purchased it no problem.
If no one can help me contact Chachagua in Arenal, could anyone suggest another hotel in Arenal that is reasonable in cost and is fabulous?
Thanks!

tfalicov,
The hotel you mentioned has an interesting website. Never heard of it before, but it sounds like a neat place to try.
Many people visiting Arenal like to be right where the action is (on the viewing side of the volcano) such as Montana del Fuego or Arenal Paraiso. There isn't a property that fits into the fabulous category here as far as amenities. It is a very natural area and the properties tend to be more rustic, albeit clean and well operated. Tabacon Resort (with beautiful hot springs that should not be missed whether you stay there or not) is the "resort hotel" of the area, but it gets mixed reviews. Arenal Paraiso has a very nice property with a decent restaurant and nice pool (also a small spa). It offers an amazing view of the volcano should you get lucky. Montana del Fuego is right next door and very similar. You are in rural Costa Rica when in this area so won't find the deluxe properties that are to be found on some of the Pacific beaches. Great area, however. There is so much to do here! By the way, Arenal Paraiso is about $80 for a deluxe bungalow, I believe. Check online. It may be a bit less than that during the green season.

We are going to Costa rica at the end of march/early april. We are going to Arenal, Monteverde and then have five days to decide what to do with. I am trying to decide between Tamarindo or a beach town near there versus Manuel Antonio. Where is there more to do? Also, any suggestions of where to stay would be great. We are looking for places within close walking distance to the beach, quaint, near a town with restaurants. Doesn't have to be a huge nightlife. Thanks.
