Cell phone use in Zihuatanejo

Cell phone use in Zihuatanejo
I have a cell phone in British Columbia,Canada and my provider is Bell Canada.
I am going to Zihuatanjeo for 2 months so can not use their plan as it would be approx. $12.00 per day.
Can I just buy cell service there and put their simm card in like I did in Thialand.
If so what is the approx. cost for data and talk time?

Our cell phone was purchased in Mexico long ago but is still functional. That said, when our minutes are up, we purchase the amount of time we feel necessary at any OXXO store. I simply give them my phone number and the amount of pesos I choose at that time... 100, 200, 300 and so on. He then enters my coordinates in his system and it’s over. At which time we are able to call anywhere in the country. The OXXO stores also sell SIM cards and various paraphernalia related to cell phones. It is quick and economical in Mexico, unlike Canada. By the way , we are also headed for Zihu this coming Déc. for 2 months...
