capt. morgan's on Ambergis?

Just wondering if anyone can share any of the experiences they've had at Capt. Morgan's resort on Ambergis Caye. I've heard mixed reviews of the beaches on the Caye, but some people said that Capt. Morgan's seems to have nice ones? Any opinions?

Also, does anyone know how late the water taxis run into San Pedro? Should I worry about going into town for dinner/drinks and having a tough time getting back up to the Captain's?

Thanks!

Cap't Morgan's is out there. You can reserve water taxi's.. What are you looking for? I stayed at Ramon's village and it was near everything. If you are looking for a beach--go to Turks and Caicos or another Carribean island. A.Caye is not beachy. Good luk.

Anna is correct. There are no real beaches in Belize but snorkeling is great. Capt. Morgan's is very isolated and there are bugs.

Not all of San pedro/Ambergris Caye has good beach in front, but Capt Morgans happens to have a great stretch of beach in front of the hotel. A few miles north of town, water taxi's on the island run all day and into the night, til bars close. CM can reserve a taxi for you if you want to stay in very ate. The last water taxi from Belize City to San Pedro is at 3pm.

I've known people who stayed at CM and they've all been happy. New rooms, pool, pier with all water sports and good for people who want to be away from others and a bit more remote.

Katie Valk
Belize

The beaches on Ambergris are artificial, but yes, the one at Cap't Morgan's is nice. Keep in mind, though, that the beaches all have sea grass out to about your waist. That's why the resorts all have those quaint little piers.

As for water taxis, we had no problem catching them in town at night for a ride north to our resort, the Capricorn (highly recommended, even if just for dinner).

Thanks for the responses on my query about Capt. Morgan's...sounds like my kinda place - kinda remote, not a party-place like Ramon's (nothing wrong with that, just not my cup o' tea).

Ironincally...just found out last night that Capt. Morgan's is where Fox just shot that new series "Temptation Island"...ughhh...a plague upon the Fox Network for marring my paradise.

oh well, whadda ya gonna do?
