We recommend downtown restaurants (el centro), much better value, seem more authentic. Try Rosa Mexicana (Mexican, strolling musicians); La Parilla (the grill) they prepare some of the dishes at your table, live jazz, open courtyard; El Pescador (the fisherman) all good prices. When walking downtown, men will offer you free drink cards for some of these places. Take them.

The Plantation House is extremely elegant and has a terrific wine list. La Joya, located at the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach, is also fanastic. Finally, I would recommend U'Mediterraneo (at the Forum Mall) -- be sure to order the flambe for dessert.
