Cancun Hotel Zone -Small nice beachfront hotel or studio apartment

We are looking for a small nice beachfront hotel or studio well located in regards to transportation, restaurants, shopping, etc. It does not have to be luxurious but comfortable and safe.

Thanks

This is probably one of those instances in which I should keep this to myself since I haven't been, but from prior research, you may want to look at the Avalon Baccara Cancun. IF I were to ever stay in Cancun (which could be a possibility), I would seriously look at this place. Looks relatively small, some units have kitchens, etc. Definitely not one of those big resorts.

Does it have to be in Cancun? Can it be about 40 miles south, in Playa Del Carmen? There are several small beach front hotels right in town, with lots of restaurants, shopping, and transportation options (to visit ruins, etc) very nearby.

plumboy, hey that place looks sweet! I noticed it's an All-Inclusive (may or may not matter)?

I agree with the post above that what you are requesting sounds more like Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres or along the coastline of Mayan Riviera, more than in Cancun's Hotel Zone.

There is a small boutique hotel that we've looked into called Casa Turquesa that looks very nice. I doubt that we'll be going back to Cancun in the near future because it was so developed that last time we went. If we ever return, I would be interested in staying there since it looks like a small place where you could get personalized service.

I agree with travelenthusiast. Casa Turquesa is very nice. The Salvia is not bad either.

I always stay at Art Deco Suites (www.artdecosuites.com). It's walking distance to everything and only about $430 for the entire month, the rooms are nicer than most of the expensive hotels too.

JohnBoy911 has posted nowhere but this thread. " a bit of luxury" is a tipoff. Hang in there, epaulino, for some real posters.

Oh, OK, advertising. Thanks.

I was reading with interest because I didn't know there was such a thing on the beach in Cancun (places that aren't mega-resort-high-rises).
